#DYK: In Kenya’s Mxasai Mara, local Maasai communities are choosing to keep their land under wildlife by forming wildlife conservancies where land leases are paid for by tourism partners. This brings in income to the local community and allows wildlife to continue to inhabit these large tracts of land.
Community-based conservation is a concept that’s been gaining traction since the 1980s which actively seeks to involve and give some control to members of local communities in conservation efforts, helping to support the lives of local people while conserving areas through the protection of wildlife areas.
….It’s so far been successful in the Masai Mara ~ come and see the magic for yourself!
