A group of climbers stop to view the sunrise from the edge of the crater rim near Kibo peak at the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, a spectacular orange-gold view from the ‘rooftop of Africa’ silhouetting Kilimanjaro’s second highest peak Mawenzi. #ThrowbackThursday October 2016.
I captured this stunning view on assignment for ActionAid with my Canon 5d markIII, and my trusted favorite lens the Canon EF40mm f/2.8 STM, at f/8, 1/8000 sec, ISO 6400. It was important for me to carry as little kit as possible and something easy and light. I love the feel of the quiet shutter on my markIII, and the Canon 40mm fixed ‘pancake’ lens is lightweight and crystal sharp – a perfect combo for this difficult climb!
